How to make an auto run CD
You need an autorun.inf file, a launch.exe file and your first file must be called index.html
autorun.inf
Save the following as autorun.inf in Notepad
[autorun]
open=launch.exe
Download the launch.exe file here
Make a new folder in your Windows explorer. Call it cd or whatever you wish to. This folder will hold all your CD files including launch.exe and autorun.inf
Make your HTML files, ensuring that after the index.html file, where you will probably have your contents page, that links to the other pages look like this. <a href="yourfile.html">yourfile</a> and your images will look like this <img src="your.gif" width="?" height="?">
On your computer the file will look something like this.
C:\cd\yourfile.html but as you will be burning everything from your cd folder in your hard drive C: all the cd will eventually see is the yourfile.html section.
With your CD burning software, backup all that is in your cd folder. Hey Presto.
Check it on another computer as your mistakes will not be detected on the one you made the cdrom because the information is on that computer.
Covers for the CDROM are more difficult. You need to calibrate them so that they fit properly on the CD and they need to be sticky so you basically have to buy these. But they do make great presents for friends especially if the CD is about your travels or a wedding for example.
I
got a computer way back when. I was linked to the internet, before the
school I taught in had it. So I learned about computers first and then
as I was a teacher librarian I learned a computer system which we used
to computerize the stock. We had to teach students and teachers how to
use it. How to search. At home I was learning to use HTML and images on
the site I had back then. When the school was ready to create a site for
itself I was all for it and wanted to do it. However, the job was given
to the computer techie of course. After I left that school and at another
I had much more access to the internet and collected many sites suitable
for students and teachers to assist with their learning. Then, after retirement
I started learning web design and as I did, being a teacher, I developed
some tutorials, which you will find on this site. I also take photos.
