How to back up your computer data, music, videos, images

The other day I was deleting some files on my server and used the C + 'click on files' method.

For some reason my 'images' directory was also clicked. There they went, all gone.

So I had to reload them. Luckily, I had most of them backed up on a CD.

How to back up on CD

Firstly, you need a re-writable disk. You also need to check whether your DVD or CDs are -R or +R. It's preferable to get RW ones for they are rewritable. But if you haven't used them you can make certain they are readable on any computer by clicking on the D or E drive (wherever your CD/DVD drive is) and right click and look for 'make compatible'.Click that. That doesn't automatically make them readable, but you can also try looking at the 'properties' of the disk and unclick 'read only'.

All very confusing, which is why people use USB drives now.

USB drives are now the way to back up files. Much easier, not that I have one. You can get one at Amazon though.
