Peanut Butter wikis

These are great for educators. Mine is here but I haven’t done much with it as I’m no longer a practising teacher.

PB wikis have upgraded as they go along.

Here are some examples from the PB wiki blog.

Here is a new feature.

Here are a couple of ways educators have put PB wikis to use.

I look back to the old gestetner days and wonder how I ever prepared. Teachers are so lucky today to have such features they can use from the internet. I would have loved these as a teacher.

  1. PB Wiki looks very interesting, especially in the context of education. Another useful education CMS is ‘moodle’. I’m using it here:

Despite all its wonderful features (e.g. you can write online tests with ‘hot potatoes’, students log in and it marks them for you: cool or what!), I have to admit I haven’t been using it much lately.

The bulletin board I installed proved much more popular with students:

Perhaps they just find it easier to use. I like it because I can post notes, assignments etc., use word attachments or whatever types I allow and get my stuff up there with a minmum of fuss.

Both these systems are completely free, need a server with php installed and a SQL database.

Links to the install sites are at the bottom of the pages.

    Regards, Liam
