Bordered backgrounds

There are some really beautiful bordered backgrounds on the net but one must be careful about download times as most are still using only a 28 bps modem.

You need an image which is at least 1600 pixels wide if you are using 2 different colours, so that the left border doesn't repeat itself in the middle of your page.

Open a new image in psp set at 1600 pixels wide, 200 pixels high and change Background colour to Background Color.

Now set the background colour one colour and the foreground colour another colour as seen in this screen shot. The image will automatically fill with what you set the background colour as.

Select select tool and drag the mouse over the left corner of this image from the top left to the bottom right about 200 pixels in from the left. Select the Flood fill tool flood tool and click on the mouse. Go to Selections and Select None. Now you might want to play with the effects of that left colour. With Flood fill clicked, click on the arrow of the foreground colour, select the gradient tool and then the red metalic gradient. The rulers are active in that screen shot.
