Using images to make a bordered background

Open up a new image 1600 x 150 (the latter being the height of the image you use for the border)

Make the background colour the colour you want. I used transparent.

I opened one of my background tiles next.

You may need to magnify the images so that they are the size you want.

Copy and Paste as new selection the image you use for the border.

Deselect and save.

I have had to resize this border example and you can't see the transparent part.
