How to make a favicon and an avatar

Favicons look like this and appear in your browser next to your URL.

Make a 16x16 pixel image in Paint shop pro or another image editor.
Make your little favicon. Save as favicon.gif
Download IrfanView and view your favicon.gif in it. Save it as an .ico

Insert

<linkrel="SHORTCUT ICON"href="http://www.yoursite.com/favicon.ico"> into the HEAD tags.
Upload favicon.ico and index page.

You can submit your favicon gif and link to swap favicons and links here.

How to make an avatar

Avatars are small pictures that you can have displayed along with your username on most online forums.

There will usually be a link in the area where you can modify your user profile, including adding an avatar to it. Make sure you check out the size limits for avatars at the particular forum you're visiting, because they can range from 50 x 50 pixels and all the way up to 100 x 100 pixels.

First you need to open your graphic editor and open an image you like. Then you need to resize the image to the appropriate dimensions.

Another resizing option would be to download a free PIXresizer program or any of the image resizers here

After you create the image, go back to the forum user profile editing section. Next, go to the avatar manager and browse to the folder where your picture is. Now you can upload the picture to the forum's server.
