Graphics

I love photography and have been using my own photos for web graphics for some time. I got my hands on a copy of Paint shop pro and started making psp tubes. I used them often for various web graphics I have used. I could also download them from other sites and they are very useful. Now, I am finally launching into Adobe Photoshop and having used one graphic program, am finding it similar but so much more difficult and comprehensive in its features. I am using it to correct my digital photos that I am in the process of uploading to various stock photo sites. I made the little icon next to my URL address with Photoshop too.

In the meantime though, if you cannot afford Photoshop, then many of the following graphic pages will help. They are all freeware. They are not trials and not shareware. I do recommend Xara graphics as a very good, but cheaper way to create good graphics for a web site.

Free graphic programs

Free graphic editors: I use one of these constantly. It is called Irfan View. I can change one graphic file name into another with it. It shows up a graphic quickly. It is also my most visited page.

Create graphics online: You can create logos, buttons and more with these sites.

3D editors: for those interested in 3 dimensional graphics.

Headings: use a generator here to make your own customized heading.

Image mappers: these are for making graphic web navigation systems. They help you slice images or place hot spots into them in order to use them for menu items on web pages.

Image resizers: I use one of these to resize my photos into thumbnails. Very useful for displaying photos.

Web gallery makers: these make your photos into viewable galleries on the web and probably resize at the same time.

Graphics programs: these make a variety of graphics : drawing, morphing, vector graphics, you name it.

Screen capture programs: It's not just a matter of pressing Cntrl and Print screen. Often you want only part of the computer screen.

Colour pickers: these little utilities are extremely useful for matching up colours. Use them to pick out colours on a web site for your own use.

Web safe colours: shows a range of HEX and RGB colours and numbers.
