How to make a picture tube in Paint Shop Pro

You can get your image that you are going to use to make a tube into PSP in a variety of ways, but I am going to assume you have your image on your hard disk. I assume you have your PSP open. I assume you have your foreground and background colours as white.
I assume that the new Image window shows that you have a transparent background
1. Go to File/Browse - find your image
2. Drag the image into the work space
3. Duplicate it now so you can use it again if necessary. Go to Window/Duplicate
4. Crop extraneous bits. Use the crop tool that looks like this crop tool
If the tool doesn’t come up click on Toggle Tool Options toggle tool and then click on the spanner like icon and choose crop tool

Now there are two methods of making a tube

Method 1
5. Click on Eraser – the one which is red with a yellow tip. Once again bring up the tool options window, click on eraser eraser tool
6. When you see the box for this, set it like this: Make shape a square, hardness, 100 Step, 25 Density, 100
7. Left Click on image in the background part you want to remove.
8. Drag mouse around erasing bits you don’t want.
9. Click on zoom zoom tool once or twice.
10. Click back on eraser – continue. If you make a mistake go to Edit/undo eraser brush
11. When you have done as much as you can with this size, change settings to Square or Round, size 10
12. You now need a very steady hand the closer you get to the outline of the image you want to be a tube.
13. You can change settings to left slash/right slash/horizontal/vertical as need be
14. Always erase bits you have missed. You can see them in the white background when zoomed.
15. You will see that your image is still called Background.
16. Make a new image slightly bigger than the one you have now.
17. Click on arrow icon. Click on image 1, go to Edit/ copy. Click on new image space; go to Edit/ Paste/Paste as transparent image. Right click.
18. Go to Selections and select none.

Method 2

1. Click on lasso type icon lasso tool and set selection to Selection Type = Point to Point
Feather = 0
Antilias = checked

Draw around the image. Select a point to start and left click there, move around the image left clicking as you go. When you are all around right click to join the point to point.NOTE: Often the point to point will join up before you are done. TRY again or I find doing method 1 first works best and then do method 2.

2. If you want to make sure you have all the image you can contract the selection by 1 or 2 pixels.

Go to Selection > Modify > Contract

3. The next bit is quite different form Method 1.
Press CNTRL and C or Edit > Copy
Press CNTRL and V or Edit > Paste > Paste as New Image.

This is your tube.
19. Go to File/Export/Picture tube. Name the tube.
20. Open a new image at about 200x200.
22. Go to Picture tube option picture tube icon
23. Find your new picture tube and place it on your new image.
24. There should be no white background and you have been successful in making a tube for your use.

I have recently made a video which is uploaded to YouTube and Killer.com about how to make an avatar with psptubes.

It's not greatly successful as I am very new to all things audio, but it's a first.
